Psy 202 Ashford - The appeal of more cut-rate and less contaminating sources of energy has led to research to explore alternative energy sources to fossil fuels (Cunningham & Cunningham, 2009). This topic has become more prominent with the controversy surrounding the wars in the Middle East and the climbing cost of oil. All of the components surrounding the desire to cut back pollutants made by burning fossil fuels have resulted in a global expansion in erection of wind turbines that convert the power of moving air into electrical energy.
Although this idea is attractive, there are contradicting views concerning the benefits of using wind turbines. Ecologists take the ecological highway saying that the use of turbines will reduce the early noted concerns while economists contend that the benefits are exaggerated and conversely will cause more damage than good. This paper will explore the opinions from both the pro-wind power and anti-wind turbine positions. The pro-wind turbine advocates believe the benefit to using wind turbine technology well outweighs the arguments of the anti-wind turbine group; each has its platform for coming to their respective conclusions (Easton, 2009).

This report will attempt to illustrate that the idea of how wind turbine technology is theorized to improve the environment by being sustainable and inexhaustible. In this perspective it addresses the concerns of the world in preventing environmental impacts on airborne and other residual pollutants. Nonetheless, the opposing point of view contends that the claims of these groups are exaggerated regarding the benefits and their points will be presented also. All viewpoints will be confirmed by research on the subject and expert opinion will be used to support the subject matter herein.
